Mid-America Institute of Professional Photography

The Mid-America Institute of Professional Photography (MAIPP) June 2-6, 2013
is an affiliated school of the Professional Photographers of America. Established in 1980, MAIPP has a proven record of dedication to the highest quality education at very reasonable rates. Held in the Spring of each year, over half of the MAIPP students have returned to take additional courses and enjoy the variety of networking opportunities. To get the most from your MAIPP class, you will spend the entire week with your chosen instructor.

Course Prerequisites Most of the courses list “prerequisites” for that course. These are included so the students will enroll in a class that they are qualified for. The instructor will NOT “slow down” the course for those who do not meet the prerequisite requirements.

2013 Schedule MAIPP will be held June 2-6, 2013 on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Tuition is $675 and a $200 deposit is required with your application. The balance is due before May 1st, 2013.

Location MAIPP is held on the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The University offers the best in audio-visual presentations, spacious classrooms, and urban and environmental settings within a short walk from the classroom. Classes are held within a short walk from the residence halls.

Other information MAIPP is held on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  While most of the students drive to the campus, some choose to fly.  This presents a couple options.  You can fly into the Waterloo, Iowa airport (it’s very close to campus) and if you let the MAIPP staff know  your arrival time, someone will pick you up at the airport.  The down side is that Waterloo is served by only one airline, Northwest, and has only two incoming flights per day.  The other option is to fly into the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, airport, rent a car and drive to Cedar Falls.  Cedar Rapids is served by five airlines and is approximately 70 miles from Cedar Falls.  The MAIPP staff will not pick you up at the Cedar Rapids airport.

Most students choose to stay in the dormitories on campus, and several dorm options are available on your registration.  However, some students stay in nearby hotels.  There are several hotels available with different room rates.  There is also an “official” MAIPP hotel with a “preferred rate” for MAIPP students.  The Registrar can give you the name of the hotel and the special rate for 2013.
